Thankful Thursday on Thanksgiving

I am thankful for my husband and my kiddos. I am so blessed, really.

I am thankful for the little life moving around inside of me. You forget, when you aren't pregnant, what it feels like. And each time I am kicked, it puts the biggest smile on my face. I love it.

I am thankful for my closest friends who are always there for me when I need to chit chat or when I have pressing matters that I need prayer for.

I am thankful for the strong Christian women God has placed in my life. They are amazing!

I am thankful for my Beth Moore devotion I have been doing. I have been learning so much and it's wonderful.

I am thankful that I have all the basic necessities..a home, heater, clothes, food.

I am thankful for God's provision.

I am thankful for Christmas music and that it will start playing on the radio tomorrow, so that I can listen to it non-stop.

I am thankful that I was able to spend Thanksgiving with my hubby and kids and that everyone is healthy and well. There are so many with loved ones overseas or in hospitals. So, I am just blessed that I could spend Thanksgiving at home with my family.

Thankful Thursday

Wow, you guys, it's been a great week so far. The day care kids have been a lot mellower, the week has been going fast and we have a three day weekend coming up.

I am thankful today for such a variety of things:
- Subway Subs, which have been my craving this pregnancy...and they are soooo good.
- Caffeine free Pepsi, another treat.
- My friend, Andrea, who sent me a box of Fairytale Brownies as a special treat because she knew I had had a tough month or so. And oh my goodness they are SOOO YUMMY!
- Tuesday's In Other Words quote that really, really spoke to me.
- Getting to learn today about the humanitarian crisis in Burma as well as about nobel peace prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, whose efforts for peace have been thwarted due to the military regime keeping her imprisoned. Want to know about Burma?
I will write a blog post about it soon.
- Keeping in touch with Invisible Children people, has given me another opportunity to help out. The Mountain West Road Crew team that I helped plan a screening for last year, is on the road again beginning this September. They drive around in a van and this time they are coming out for their schools to schools program. They will be speaking to many schools in the area and rely on people like me for a place to stay, shower, eat. They will be here the last weekend in September, and I have offered my home for them. My couch pulls out into a sleeper. All I need to do is find an inexpensive sofa sleeper mattress if I can. There are two 20 something girls and a 20 something guy, who was on the team last year. So the gals can have the bed. And the guy can sleep anywhere right? That's what guys do. SO, I am so thankful to get to help out again. Because I am so passionate about Invisible Children and all of their efforts.
- And focusing on the condition in places like Uganda and Burma make me realize how truly blessed I am to live where I do...to have a home, to have three meals a day, to have medicine, to have a car, to for the most part, compared to their lives, have safety. I am so thankful.
- I am also thankful for all of those who have been praying for me and the hubby and the job situation. I know God has something wonderful in store and your prayers are such a blessing.

Happy Thursday Everyone.

Thankful Thursday

So much to be thankful for:

I am thankful for my hubby. I don't think I tell him enough either. Last Friday, I was having a rough day with the day care kids. Somedays I think I am running a zoo and not a daycare. When he got off work, he made a special trip to the store to bring me home a dozen purple roses, my favorite. When he gave them to me, he told me that he wanted me to know how much he appreciated all that I do and that he felt he didn't tell me enough. And he also wanted to help make my day a little brighter. And since I've been tired lately, since I am in my first trimester, he has been helping a lot in the evenings...cooking dinner or playing with the kids. It's been so nice.

I am thankful for my little mister's smiles. They just melt my heart. He is so happy and always smiling and giggling. Sometimes, on the tough days, just getting one of his smiles or sloppy kisses, is all I need to get me out of a grumpy mood.

I am thankful for my daughter's energy. Although, it's tough somedays to keep up with her, she just has this energy and excitement about her. She brings so much fun and so much laughter. I love it!

I am thankful that my cramping has subsided. At the beginning of the week, for 2 days, I was having some painful cramping, that had started to worry me, but since then, it has gone away. I can't wait for my first doctor's appointment so that I can hear the heartbeat and know that the little life inside me is doing well.

I am thankful for Vita-T. It is the Iced Tea vitamin water. I am not a big water fan, but I love this stuff. It's water, vitamins and tea all in one. And I think it is mighty yummy.

I am thankful for the cooler days we have had lately....and for the rain. I love the rain, and our dead grass has needed it badly.

I am thankful for my best friend, my Kate. She was out here visitng last week, and we were able to spend a little bit of time together. We have also been trying to keep in touch more, and it's been wonderful. We've had some great conversations. I am so thankful for her.

And last, but most importantly, I am thankful for all the ways God has been shouting at me lately. Over the past month or so, He's been kinda on the back burner. I've just had so much taking up my time, and I wasn't making the time for Him like I should have been. And so He's been showing Himself in many ways. And I love that He does that. Even when I distance myself, I can still feel Him and hear Him. I know how much He longs to spend time with me. And I love that about Him. He seeks me. He calls after me. And He does it with love and gentleness. I am so thankful for my God.

Thankful Thursday

The hubby is officially going to be out of the Air Force in September, and he recently found out that 11 people in his work area will most likely be deployed to Iraq. For once there is a scary deployment that I don't have to spend an ounce of time worrying about. And it's nice. I am keeping everyone's families in my prayers, however, as they prepare for the upcoming deployments.

I am thankful for the beautiful weather lately, but I need to remember that even when it isn't THAT hot out, the kids still need sunscreen. Oh and I do too. I have been so good about it, but yesterday, I forgot, and the poor mister got a little burn on the back of his neck. It's actually pretty red, but aloe is helping it. I won't forget anymore.

I am thankful for my stove, seriously! I was watching a video that Bobby with Invisible Children did for his Displaced Camp Journal. He is living in one of Gulu's displaced camps and documenting it. It took them 4 hours to cook a dinner of potatoes.
And here I am in my cozy home, with my fridge, microwave and stove. Really, that in itself is a blessing. And how I take it for granted.

I am thankful for my kiddos and for being able to have had this time in their lives to be at home with them, as much as it wears me out and drains me.

I am thankful for my hubby. He is a great man. I am proud to be his wife.

Thankful Thursday

Of course, most of you readers know how much Africa is on my heart. Tonight I watched American Idol and they did a whole special called Idol Gives Back, to raise money for all sorts of charities in the U.S. and in Africa. Each time they showed a video about Africa, whether it was focusing on Aids, malaria, orphans or schooling, I bawled. I bawled like a baby.
So tonight I am thankful.....

I am thankful for American Idol doing what they are doing for the poor and oppressed in the U.S. and for the suffering in Africa. They know what a huge fan base their show has, and the money they raise will REALLY change things!!!

I am thankful that I sat in a nice, warm home, clothed and fed...holding my sleeping, healthy baby boy in my arms while I watched American Idol's special.

I am thankful that God has put Africa on my heart. I know that I will go there someday and spread some sunshine and I can't wait.

I am thankful that so many people are coming together to help.

I am thankful for each and every thing I have....for my house, my shoes, my bed, my furniture, my bathrooms, my car, my phone, my huge backyard, my heater, my safe neighborhood, my shelves of books, my Bible sitting next to me that I am free to read, my fridge and pantries filled with food, the money in my purse, my healthy family, FOR each and every medication in my house!!!!!!!!!!!! I have so much when so many have so little.

Thankful Thursday

Spring is around the corner and this past week it has felt like spring. The weather has been beautiful and the birds have been chirping. I'd like to try to garden this spring, so I am excited. Although I have to wait until May, because where I live, it can be 70 degrees one day and a blizzard the next. But I am so thankful for the little glimpses of spring.

I am thankful for the way God brings a verse to me almost each day. One that He selected for me to read. It's funny how it always work out that way.

I am thankful for sunshine, for green grass, for the early morning sunrises.

I am thankful for the little bunny that is always scampering around our yard.

I am thankful for being able to see the world through children's eyes every day.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that I am feeling better and that everyone in my household appears to be healthy.

I am thankful that my hubby got off work early on Tuesday, so that he was able to help out with the kiddos in the afternoon.

I am thankful to hear praise reports often of the miracles God has done.

I am thankful for my friends and family.

Thankful Thursday

I am sooo thankful that my hubby had off from work yesterday. I was able to use nap time to get my hair and makeup ready for the dinner last night. And he was also home to help with the day care kiddos while I got my dress on and stuff. So, that was wonderful. Had he not been home, I would have had 20 minutes to get ready.

I am thankful that we were able to attend last night. It was a great, GREAT time.

I am thankful for the two gals that watched our kiddos and Tiffany's kiddos last night, so that we were able to have an evening together without the kids.

I am thankful for my hubby praying for me this morning. I have been in a funk...a pretty grumpy mood...from not getting enough sleep last night. The day care kiddos have been crazy this morning. I told my hubby how I was feeling and he embraced me and prayed for me and I am so thankful for that.

I am thankful for my new Chris Tomlin cd that I received as a prize last night. There are some great worship songs on that cd.

I am thankful for my daughter's hugs and kisses. She makes me feel like I am doing everything right, even on days where I feel I have failed.

Thankful Thursday

The Lord has blessed me with a healthy family...two happy, healthy children. I am so thankful for that.

Even though it isn't always peaceful sleep, I am thankful that I can cuddle in bed with my little mister at night and have him sleep in my arms.

I am thankful for the opportunity to be at home every day and to teach my kids, as well as other children under my care, about God.

I am thankful for the cleanup song and how lately the kids have been loving it too and actually pick up toys while singing it.

And, funny enough, I am thankful that I get to have a Superbowl party at my house on Sunday. It'll be my first time hosting one and it should be fun. My friend, Tiff, will be bringing lots of grub, which helps a lot. And she has offered to stay after everyone has left to help me clean up.

I am thankful for such a great friend. I think I have said that now on this blog more times than I can count.

Thankful Thursday

I want to begin by apologizing to all of you who participated last week. I was sick, along with my entire family, and I wasn't able to make the rounds, read all your thankful posts and comment. I am sorry. Today, I will be visiting all of you.

I am thankful that I have the freedom and accessibility to read the Bible, especially in the comfort of my own home.

I am thankful that I was able to catch little naps over the past couple of weeks. It has really helped prepare me for nights like I had several nights back where the mister kept me up all night long.

I am thankful that the weather has been warming up a bit this week. It has been in the 40's with sunshine, which may still sound cold to some of you. But it was warm enough to allow the kiddos outdoor play time. And outside time is wonderful. It keeps them busy and gives us all some much needed fresh air.

I am thankful that I get to go to Women's Bible study this evening. I know I will be blessed by it and that I will walk away from it having learned something.

I am thankful for Gentle Naturals baby eczema cream that has really worked well on the mister's skin.

I am thankful that this winter has given me much needed practice with driving in ice and snow. My first winter here was very mild and I was very scared to drive in any little snow storm. This year, winter has been brutal, but I am much more confident with my ability to drive in it.

I am thankful for my kiddos' laughter.

I am thankful for my hubby's help around the house last night. He cooked dinner, cleaned dinner, held the mister quite a bit and put the miss to bed. It was a nice break last night.

Thankful Thursday

What a wonderful thing to focus on what you are thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for:

1. My little mister finally producing his signature smile tonight and giggling several times at his daddy.
It's been so hard to see him sick. Poor punkin.

2. The Miss' nighttime routine where I sing to her, You Are My Sunshine, pray with her and do a few other things. It always ends with her kissing my cheek and hollering to me that she loves me. It's too precious.

3. The Mr. Coffee pot that was on sale at Wal-Mart because having a yummy cup of coffee each morning really will make a difference.

4. Beth Moore's Bible studies...really and truly. What a blessing they are. What a blessing she is!!

5. The Women's Bible study group I recently became a part of. What an amazing group of gals.

6. Digital cameras. I couldn't imagine life without them.

7. Scrapbooking and my Creative Memories Consultant friend who makes it so much easier by allowing me the use of all of her stuff.

8. 4WD. It really has made a difference this winter with all of the snowstorms and such.

9. Having a home....Having Heat.....Having 2 cars.....Having two children.....Having a dishwasher....Having a Washer and dryer......Having clothes.....Having a kitchen full of food.....Really and truly I am soooo thankful and blessed.

10. I know I have said this a few times now, but I am so thankful for my friend, Tiffany. She is helping me through some things right now and she prays for me when I ask her to. We can laugh together, cry together and just chill together. She truly is a blessing in my life. She is also the gal mentioned in numero siete.

Thankful Thursday

So, don't worry I haven't given up on Thursday Thirteen. I will do both Thankful Thursday and Thursday Thirteen. I'll switch off or do whichever one strikes my fancy each week.

Thankful Thursday: What ERICA is thankful for this week

1. On Monday, I did My Life Monday, you can see the post a few posts down. We were to write an in memory of post. Well, I read a bunch of other posts and there was one in particular that just struck a chord in my heart. You can read it By Clicking Here You will have to scroll down a few posts to find her Memorial day post. Anyway, the things she wrote at the end of her post are so very true and although we know those things, it can sometimes be so easy to get stuck in the day to day routines and busy with things we need to accomplish for the day, that we lose sight of what is most important. So, even though the story is so sad, I was so touched by reading her post and so THANKFUL for the little reminder it gave me.

2. As you may know, our family had been battling quite a bug, flu...whatever you would like to call it. The only one who didn't get sick, is the little miss. I am so THANKFUL for that because it is so very hard to see your little one sick and to know that you can't really ease their pain much. So, I am very very glad that she has stayed healthy.

3. I am THANKFUL to have married a man who is such a great daddy. Our family shares so much laughter in the evenings when my hubby and daughter play. They wrestle around and tickle. And the miss will just do the cutest things during this playtime and it always leaves us smiling and laughing. She is so very blessed and lucky to have such a loving, playful and wonderful daddy.

4. I am THANKFUL for the weather. I know I keep writing about how beautiful the weather has been, but seriously, it's been so gorgeous out. There has been just the right amount of sunshine and light breezes. And when you walk outside, you are welcomed with this light, crisp scent. It's wonderful.

5. I am THANKFUL for the ways I have been hearing God speak to me this week. Especially in the areas of love and patience. When I knew that I was starting to get cranky or maybe a little not so gentle with my words or actions, I felt God's loving correction and it helped get me out of my funk. So, I am THANKFUL for those moments where peace would start to wash over me and flood out the not so nice attitude I was starting to cave into.

6. I am THANKFUL that DH is in training classes right now. He has been getting home at noon each day from the classes. That means tomorrow, he can drop the miss off at Kate's parent's house for them to watch her this weekend....and still get back here in time for us to head out the second Roinn's mommy picks him up. So, hopefully we can make it to the resort on time for the first seminar that begins at 7:30 P.M. Roinn gets picked up about 5:15 and the resort is 2 hours away. So, hopefully we can make it. If not, we'll just walk in late. Yep.

7. I am thankful for each and every hug, smile and kiss I get each and everyday from my little girl. And I am thankful that Isaiah seems to be healthy and developing well. I truly am blessed.
