Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Britney

Then Sings My Soul Saturday is a wonderful Saturday Meme where we share a song that has impacted us.

"It can be a song that has spoken to your heart during a difficult time... a song that brings back a special memory... a song that makes you want to sing along to the top of your lungs... a song that makes you glad... a song that makes you want to dance... a song that has inspired you... a song that makes you feel like the words were written just for you... a song that makes your soul sing."

For my first Sing My Soul Saturday, I'm not quite focusing on a song that makes my heart sing, but it is a song that has a powerful message.

When the news of Corey Haim's death traveled around the internet, I was shocked to read such harsh and judgmental reactions from some people. There were many who felt as if he deserved it, because he made poor decisions. And, hey, he was privileged at one point in his life, so his life couldn't have been ALL that bad. It was awful to read such words.

The song, Britney, by Bebo Norman immediately came to mind. If you have never heard it before, I hope that it speaks to your heart. I know I was convicted the first time I heard it. I am a very empathetic and loving person, but I definitely have my judgmental moments.

This song reminds us that we should love, encourage, and help those who are hurting, regardless of their upbringing, poor choices or religion.

You're right, and that song is very convicting. I grew up in California and the influence of fame and fortune was everywhere. All the trappings, and tinsel, but so little substance. So... the hearts that chase all of that, have nothing lasting, no hope inside, and when it caves in, they realize they are lost. And... they are the very ones Christ gave His life for... them and us!

Great selection and a good reminder for us.

Blessings!

Such an excellent song. We do indeed need to have an attitude of love and compassion.

I had never heard the song before. It spoke the truth! I am not a big Britney fan but i did read what she was going thru and continually prayed for her. God loves her just as much as us and I think we forget that sometimes! Very good selection and a good reminder for all of us!

until next time... nel

I've heard that song a hundred times, but never heard the "Britney" reference before...

It makes that song so much more potent.

what a great song. I haven't ever heard it. So often we do tend to judge people but you have to wonder if in the lives they lead if there is even one person who has shared Jesus with them.

I've heard the song but never seen the video. Very, very touching. I wonder if she's ever commented on it?
