So, I went over to Tiff's tonight to work on the mister's quilt. I got there about 9:00 and spent about 4 hours sewing away. Tiff was a sweetheart and cut for me to help it all go quicker.
And again, I had a crazy driving experience. It had been misting and raining all afternoon and the temperature dropped substantially this evening, so the roads were pretty slick. I was driving about 35 in a 50 and a car behind me went into the middle lane to pass me I suppose. He then started kind of swerving into my lane...I thought maybe he was drunk...but then all of a sudden, his car went crazy. He went from swerving in his lane..to gliding across the entire street...almost into the median. Then he headed back over toward me and his car started to spin. His back end almost whipped the front of my car.
He continued to slide and spin and I slowly put on my brakes. I didn't want to slam them, because I knew the roads were slick. As I pressed on them, they made that crunching sound they make when you are driving on cold roads and for a few seconds I was afraid that I wouldn't stop in time. But I did. He was a lot less than a car length ahead of me. In fact he was pretty darn close to me. I stopped just as he whipped his back end one last time before he turned around again and ended up on the side of the road. As I stepped on my brakes, I watched the cars behind me too...hoping that their vehicles would stop and not hit me. But boy was it scary.
When I started driving again, I was hyperventilating. I was breathing so hard and fast. But I made it to Tiff's safe and sound...and a little shooken up. Ya know, when I got in my car at home, before heading out, I was nudged to pray. And I did. I prayed to make it to Tiff's safely! I had the mister in the car with me as well...so I am so thankful that we were kept safe.
Anyway, we got all of the quilt blocks done...YAY! So, now we have to sew all nine of them together..add a couple of borders...the batting and the backing and we'll be done. Here's a pic of me sewing (I am definitely getting the hang of it).

Glassy roads send cars sliding, killing 1 driver

A driver died Friday night after being thrown from her Jeep when it hit a guardrail and rolled as freezing drizzle suddenly iced over roads when night fell.
The crash was among dozens throughout the region, where drivers, struggling to get home safely, reported that vehicles too numerous to count had slid off roads.
From about 5:30 p.m. through 9 p.m., police officers answered calls about rollovers and other crashes without stop.
Interstate 25, Academy and Powers boulevards and East Platte Avenue became “sheets of ice,” rescuers reported on their radios as they tried to clear damaged vehicles through the night.
Police did not release the name of the woman who was killed. She was driving east in the
5700 block of East Platte Avenue about 5:30 p.m. when her Jeep Wrangler swerved off the road and struck the median guardrail, police reported.
The Jeep rolled once, and the woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out, police said. She was taken to Memorial Hospital, where she died at 7:15 p.m.
Road crews on city and state roads tried to keep up with requests for sand and de-icer. Bridges and overpasses were particularly slippery, according to reports.
“What happened to summer?” one plow driver asked over his radio.
The day hit its high temperature of 33 degrees about 10 a.m., but the temperature dropped below freezing an hour later. The National Weather Service reported freezing drizzle at the airport about 4 p.m., when the temperature had dropped to 24 degrees.
The forecast calls for cold, periodic snow, freezing drizzle and rain today and early Sunday.
“Hopefully, this system won’t slow down and make it a bad day all Sunday,” weather service forecaster Pamela Evenson said.
Reports of crashes started pouring in soon after 5 p.m., and police announced about 5:30 they would respond only to accidents with injuries or those involving alcohol or drugs.
The city’s streets division sent out 25 trucks just after 6 p.m. to spread anti-skid material and salt, chiefly on roads in northeastern parts of the city, said Peg Richardson, an operations manager.

Kid's Easter Crafts / Coloring Sheets
Resurrection Cookies
1 cup pecan halves
1 tsp vinegar
3 egg whites
Pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
Zipper baggie
Wooden spoon
Tape
Bible
1. Preheat oven to 300 F. Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested he was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read John 19:1-3.
2.Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into mixing bowl. Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.
3. Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11. Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.
4. So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 c. sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. Read PS. 34:8 and John 3:16.
5. Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isa.1:18 and John 3:1-3.
6. Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matt. 27:57-60.
Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door. Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matt. 27:65-66.
7. GO TO BED! Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 and 22.
8. On Resurrection morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the first Resurrection day Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matt. 28:1-9.

Little Update
Well, the week has been going well. My class has been pretty easy, to be honest. I am almost done with all of my reading. I am just waiting to receive one of my textbooks via UPS. It should be here today. I am actually ahead of the game, which is nice. I was posting assignments on Monday that were due Tuesday. And I am almost done with the rest of the week's assignments. My professor is a really nice gal and so far it's all going well. I am not learning much in terms of coding and stuff in this class. This class focuses more on designing for the user.
Any ol' way....on Friday night, I went over to my friend's house to work on the skirt for sewing seeds. What an event that was. I learned what not to do...and how to change a needle on a machine..since they kept breaking over and over again. I bought two different types of fabric and we started with my favorite one. But, we cut the pattern out wrong. So, we moved on to the next fabric. We were both tired...and a bit out of it...ya know..the...I've been drained by munchkins all day syndrome....so we decided to get some caffeine. But, it didn't help. We worked on the same skirt for 4 hours. We blame it on the machine that we had borrowed...it was hard to use and like I said the needles kept breaking. But, I did get to use it and sew. Honestly, it's not that hard. It's just using the patterns that is a bit difficult. By 1:00 A.M., we called it a night and my friend finished the skirt for me the next morning. So, I don't really feel like I can take much credit for it...but here it is...
Oh, and you know that quilt I started back in November for the little mister? Well, I never got around to working on it. Tiff and I worked on cutting the strips the other night and now we are ready to sew it. So, it should be done soon...and after finishing the quilt, I should definitely be used to using a sewing machine. I went to Joanne's last night and bought fabric to make a quilt for the little miss. I found really cute tinkerbell fabric that will make up the backing and one of the borders....and I picked out the fabric for the two other borders as well as my 3 dark colors. I still need 3 more colors and then I can start on hers. I think she'll like it.
On Monday night, I went to an Invisible Children screening at my old church. I showed up early and talked to the Invisible Children team to ask them if I could pass out flyers to people as they left to let them know about next week's screening...the one I set up. My hope was that the folks leaving the film on Monday night would be itching to tell others about it..and would send them to my screening. I sure hope there will be a good turnout. It's soon soon soon...April 9th. :o)
Oh, I have to run.....the kiddos are done with craft time and we are going to head on downstairs to play. But real quick...here's the mister Monday night...

Psalms Sunday #13
So sorry this is late. It was a busy day.
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
I admit it, I have times where little miss faithful, little miss optimistic and little miss believer becomes heavy and down-laden. I get so self-focused, so caught up in silly emotions that I feel I could cry at the drop of a hat. And usually at those times, I distance myself from God, which only makes it worse.
I love in verse 3 where it says, "give light to my eyes." In the New King James version, it says, "enlighten my eyes." I think that that is something I should pray daily, especially during moments when I am caught up in a swirl of emotions and feeling maybe angered or depressed. Sometimes, when we sit and evaluate our feelings during those times, we realize that we are creating a false reality. And if we have God enlighten our eyes....if we see things the way they truly are, we will soon realize that things really are good. Our mood will change and we will be filled with fruit (joy, peace....). So, ask God to give light to your eyes and trust in His unfailing love.
"His love is amazing, steady and unchanging. His love makes us sing."
Since next Sunday is Easter, we will not have a Psalms Sunday next week. Have a blessed week and a wonderful Easter. I'll see you in 2 weeks for Psalm 14.
